A High Fiber Weekend
After over 15 years of wanting to attend the Black Sheep Gathering, I finally got to go this year. It was held in Albany, Oregon. I had a really wonderful time. I took two dyeing related classes and met so many people with the same fiber-y interests as myself, one who flew in from Germany just to attend. And, of course, I got to visit the sheep barn. One of my favorite things!
My Sunday morning class was on mushroom and lichen dyeing. Now that I live in the Pacific Northwest, I am itching to get out into the woods and do a little gathering for the dye pot and of course a little edible hunting for the table as well.
Can you believe those beautiful colors that you can get from a mushroom or lichen! Just gorgeous!
I was given a good recommendation for a pocket guide for mushroom gathering, so once that comes, I will be all kinds of eager for the fall/winter months. Who would have guessed that I would ever look forward to those rainy months!
I will most definitely be attending again next year and am looking forward to the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival (OFFF) also held in Albany this coming September. If you are fiber-y kin, maybe I will see you there.
THIS sounds amazing Pam!! Really glad you had such a wonderful time..Surprised someone flew in from Germany, but it’s pretty neat..Colors are gorgeous 😍
